Malbecs are one of the traditional “Bordeaux varietals”.
They have characteristics that fall somewhere between
Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
These grapes ripen in midseason and can bring a very deep
color, ample tannins, and a plum like flavor. Malbecs
originated in France, but due to the colder climate it
has become a decreasing factor in most of France. Much
of the Malbec vines have been transplanted from Europe
to Argentina.
